October is Bullying Prevention Awareness Month

National Bullying Prevention Awareness Month is a great time to take action for bullying prevention in schools, recreational and faith-based programs, communities, and at home. Below are some tips and resources on how you can take action to stop or prevent bullying.

  • Schools, educators and students can work together to create bullying prevention programs that foster moral engagement and empathy.
  • Kindness works! Start a daily kindness habit – be kind and inclusive with people outside of your inner circle.
  • Share the Snapshot on Bullying in America infographic available in English and Spanish and the Cyberbullying Facts infographic, available in English and Spanish.
  • Schools can facilitate student support programs to foster peer relationships with students who have special health needs.
  • Parents can start teaching their kids good digital citizenship skills to keep them safe from cyberbullying and instill positive online social behavior.
  • Wear orange on October 24 for National Unity Day to show your support of bullying prevention.
  • Teachers can make learning about bullying prevention fun!  Download and hang the augmented reality poster, open the free Layar app on a smart phone, hover over the poster and play the video to learn how to prevent bullying with a virtual tour of StopBullying.gov.
