The Minnesota Department of Employment & Economic Development (DEED) and the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) will host the 12th Annual Veterans Career Fair.

We strongly encourage participation by employers who have full-time jobs with benefits available. Please respect the Veterans military experience and training, and future contributions to your workforce by offering meaningful, family-sustaining wages. Due to the high demand for exhibit space, we are limiting registrations to W2 employers only and will be unable to accommodate staffing agencies or schools.

Equity Coordinator Position open at the Minnesota Department of Human Services

Closing date February 26, 2018

The Equity Coordinator will provide guidance and support to division directors, managers, and staff in the Community Supports Administration (CSA) at the Minnesota Department of Human Services on equity-related issues and activities. This position will also be responsible for facilitating the CSA’s internal equity initiatives. With the support of the division directors, this person will coordinate with staff at all levels to assess equity and inclusion awareness/capacity, identify activities to build equity and inclusion, and implement those activities at all levels of the Administration. This position will work in partnership with the CSA Equity Committee to achieve alignment with the DHS Equity Policy. Equity is a key part of the CSA Strategic Plan and the Equity Coordinator will also play a role in supporting the work outlined in the Plan.

Upcoming DNR Veteran Employment Seminar

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, a Yellow Ribbon company, is proud to announce its first Veteran Employment Seminar on January 3, 2018.  It’s an informational event where veterans can learn about jobs in the DNR and how they match up with their military job skills.  DNR staff can answer their questions on education requirements and work experience as well as guide them on how to set up job searches and notifications.

Contract Positions – Citizen Soldier for Life

Patriot Enterprises is hiring Citizen Soldier For Life (CSFL) Career Readiness Counselors. These positions are full-time contract positions within Central MN, the Metro and Southern MN. The work locations include:  Camp Ripley, Rosemount, and Mankato

What:  Citizen Soldier for Life is a program that focuses is on new recruits and service members who need employment/financial services. The CSFL Career Readiness Counselors will support the Recruit Sustainment Program (RSP) for both the Army and the Air National Guard.

These Employment counselors/case manager roles will focus on case management of employment assistance and financial education.  The focus is on new recruits and service members who need employment/financial services. Counselors will work with and connect with Department of Labor (DoL) representatives, DoL American Job Centers (AJC’s), and state ESGR members to provide a 360 degree look/review of service and family member requirements/needs, while eliminating duplication of effort. The program familiarize’s service members and their families with the skills necessary for a fulfilling civilian career. It also teaches them how to manage their wages to reduce unemployment, underemployment and improve the financial literacy of the force. Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or 3 years of relevant experience as a Career Readiness Counselor.

Prior military is preferred but not required.

Pay range: average salary: $17.50 an hour

The Mission Continues has an immediate need to select a new Platoon Leader for the Minneapolis Service Platoon that is serving North Minneapolis (see attached Operation North Advance description). The candidate who is selected would be required to attend Charlie Class 2017 Orientation in Boston, July 14-16, 2017; flight, room and board are covered! Your role as Platoon Leader would officially start after completing your training at Charlie Class.

Mission Continues Service Platoon Leaders are at the forefront of a movement of veterans continuing their service in their home communities. Service Platoon Leaders are responsible for organizing a Platoon, recruiting members, planning missions or service projects, and upholding The Mission Continues core values at all times. They’ll work directly with The Mission Continues staff to achieve these goals.
