Heinzen-Ditter Celebrates PBYR, Home Depot and Volunteers!

On June 7, 2019,  Jennifer, Dean and I attended a dinner celebration at the VFW regarding individuals and organizations that helped make their recent restroom renovation project a success. The completed project looks great and will help Veterans and their families for many years into the future, especially those with mobility issues due to service injury illnesses and aging.

During the celebration, PBYR  presented a plaque to Commander Jim Heimerl in honor of his lifelong dedication to community service.  His quiet Dignity and Courage is an inspiration to all!

Gary was able to highlight the PBYR-VFW partnership since 2011:

  • The VFW helped with a steering committee for PBYR, even before PBYR was operational
  • The VFW has had continued presence on the PBYR Board since 2012
  • The VFW is the mail address for PBYR
  • The PBYR-VFW have partnered and shared tables at Home Depot Programs and other programs
  • PBYR-VFW Partnered with purchase of American Dream Oak – a living part of the Plymouth Veterans Memorial
  • The VFW  helped PBYR achieve 501(c)3 status
  • PBYR-VFW have partnered  with programs for Memorial Day  and Veterans Day

It was an honor for PBYR to attend the celebratory dinner and participate in this remodeling project.  PBYR looks forward for the PBYR-VFW partnership to continue and grow with the passage of time.  Also, I must note that their prime rib was 12 on a 10 point scale!

PBYR is now a member of Thrivent Choice

We are pleased to announce that Plymouth Beyond the Yellow Ribbon is now a member of Thrivent Choice and is listed in the Thrivent Choice online catalog–an option for non-profits to receive donations. This option will apply to you if you have a Thrivent financial account.

Thrivent Choice is a member-advised program that allows eligible members to recommend where Thrivent Financial distributes part of its charitable outreach funds each year. When eligible Thrivent Financial members direct Choice Dollars® to your organization in a particular month, Thrivent Financial reviews the recommendation and makes an electronic deposit in your organization’s bank account by the 10th of the following month. Those funds may be used to carry out the religious, charitable or educational purposes of your organization.

To promote your organization to members who may be eligible to direct Choice Dollars, refer to the Promotional Tip Sheet and the Thrivent Choice Best Practices. Additionally, a wide range of free promotional material is available, including web text, inserts and banner ads under the “Promote Thrivent Choice” section on the Thrivent Choice website.

If you have any questions about Thrivent Choice, please contact a Customer Care Professional from the Member Connection Center at 1-800-THRIVENT (800-847-4836) and say “Thrivent Choice” at the prompt or email mail@thrivent.com.

This option should help PBYR help service members and their families!

DAV Donor Connect

I hope you all are faring well with this cold weather snap we have been having. I am proud to say our request list has dwindled to only a few items and many of the requests remaining I am running down leads to fulfill them.

I am making many new business connections which seem to be beneficial for the items unable to be listed with the Donor Connect Program or donors unable to maintain items. If you have any businesses or programs you think would benefit from the Donor Connect information please let me know and I can reach out to them or feel free to forward my contact information.

To all of you who have served our country I sincerely thank you for your service as we near Veterans Day this weekend. “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” John F. Kennedy
