It has been quite some time since a new list has gone out and I truly apologize for that! I have attached a new list I generated yesterday and I will likely have another updated list next week.

I have seen a recent increase in the need for lift recliners. I have updated the needed items portion of the Donor Connect List as there are a number of pending lift recliners needed.
I was also speaking with the DAV Chapter in Hutchinson who stated they are assisting with supplying the Minnesota Honor Flight riders with manual wheelchairs. The flight is coming up very soon (this coming Saturday April 7th, 2018). Please reach out to Van Karg at 612-791-5143 if you have manual wheelchairs you would like to donate to the cause.
If you know of someone who may benefit from the information in the list please feel free to share it with them or share my information.
I have attached the most recent Donor Connect list to this email. If you know of a veteran/veteran’s family in need of equipment listed on the database please get in touch with me and I will supply the donor’s contact information. If you find any of the items are no longer available please update me with that information so I can follow up. If you have any suggestions on how to improve the program I absolutely appreciate feedback!

There has been a lot of negativity happening lately in the world. The recent school shootings which have occurred since January serve as a constant reminder of how we need to cherish every minute of every day and show those around us we appreciate them and what they have done for us. The Donor Connect is a great way to show veterans and their families the sacrifices they made are appreciated by being a donor or helping to connect items to veterans in need. I want you all to know how much I appreciate the assistance you have given to ensure our veterans and their family’s needs are not forgotten.
Please share the information contained in this email with people who may benefit from it or share my contact information with them.

I was contacted by Eddy with Injury Physicians in the metro area who stated one of his locations has closed and they have a surplus of random medical equipment to include Striker brand stretchers and x-ray equipment. Being the Donor Connect is unable to pick up or store these items I wanted to make this opportunity available to the Donor Connect Network in case there are items to fill needs of veterans you know or their family members.

I was approached by Gary Komaniecki of the Rochester Public Schools who stated his auto shop students have repaired a 1998 Ford Conversion Van with a powered wheelchair ramp which is in good working order for donation.

As we near Christmas I want to send a special thank you to all of you who have helped make the Donor Connect Program as successful as it is. Without your donations and offers to assist many veterans and their family members would not have been able to benefit from the equipment listed with the Donor Connect Program.
I was contacted by Greg Peterson, CVSO for Brown County, who has a unique item he would like to let people know is available as a donation- Please get ahold of Greg if you know of anyone who is interested or could benefit from this great walk-in bath tub.
“We received a walk-in bath tub as a donation last week. The tub is in great shape, but it does not have whirlpool jets. The tub is currently in the back of our Veterans van and will be at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center on Friday, Dec 15th, and at the Minneapolis VAMC on Monday, Dec 18th. We are willing to deliver it to anyone in the near proximity of these two locations. It is heavy and would take at least two strong people to lift out of our van. The photos were taken with the tub in the van, and the interior photos include two exterior access panels.
Please call 507-233-6636 if you would like to have the tub. If it is not taken by Monday, we will store it at our DAV chapter in New Ulm.”
I hope you are enjoying the burst of Minnesota winter we recently received. I have received a plentitude of calls recently about ramps. I would like to find out if there are any contacts for ramps you may know of (businesses/charities ext.) The ramp requests I have received range from a veteran recently becoming an amputee and requiring a ramp for 4 steps into his home and another request for a veteran in his 90’s who fell while attempting to carry his wife down the exterior steps of their home because she cannot walk up and down the stairs on her own. I know a few DAV Chapters have notified me they were installing ramps for veterans or had supplied funds for the building of a ramp as service projects- There has to be more we can do to assist veterans needing ramps to allow them to stay in their homes and we cannot expect DAV Chapters to purchase ramps to fill every need.

I hope you all are faring well with this cold weather snap we have been having. I am proud to say our request list has dwindled to only a few items and many of the requests remaining I am running down leads to fulfill them.
I am making many new business connections which seem to be beneficial for the items unable to be listed with the Donor Connect Program or donors unable to maintain items. If you have any businesses or programs you think would benefit from the Donor Connect information please let me know and I can reach out to them or feel free to forward my contact information.

I have attached the most recent Donor Connect Inventory to this message. Requests are being filled all over the state and the request list appears to be mainly specialty items and ramps remaining. Many of the requests I receive are able to be filled by either the Donor Connect database or connections with different organizations/people throughout the state so I want to send a heartfelt “Thank You” to everyone who receives these messages!

Good Morning Donor Connect Friends!
I apologize for not getting the list out last week, it seemed as if it just wasn’t meant to be until this morning and I was actually able to remove two wheelchairs and add an amazing ramp which is also listed towards the end in the featured item section I’ve added.
Within the last two weeks I have been fortunate enough to have had a small part in connecting a Veteran to a handicap van which Hutchinson Chapter 37 had available after upgrading one of their vehicles. I have also been fortunate enough to help St. Cloud Chapter 9 connect a Jazzy 600 electric-wheelchair 08/18/2017 to a Clearwater Veteran after the chapter purchased new batteries for it!
I wanted to thank you all for being so willing to work with me and grow the Donor Connect Program to help get Veterans and their family members items they need, I am truly indebted to you all!
Current requests – I received a call this morning that there is a Veteran in the Brainerd MN area in need of two manual wheelchairs. If there is anyone that has information on chairs that are in the area please forward that information to me.
